Incoming! Splat!
Alien emotions smeared over my pristine presence.

There are times lately I feel that I am in a food fight of emotions. I don’t even hear the warning shout — incoming! Before I even feel the splat, I am energetically wearing that emotion and it has seductively burrowed itself into my psyche. Of course, in this food fight of emotions, we lob our emotions as well.

Where’s the peace? Where’s the calm? Where is lovingkindness? So caught up in the emotional frenzy, we close our intuitive eyes to the divine sparks that illuminate the way to peace, calm lovingkindness. So caught up in the emotions of the moment, we ignore those divine sparks of peace, calm, lovingkindness waiting to burrow themselves into our being.   

It is easy to get swept off our feet; to get carried away in the moment. The first poignant moments of love carry a heady caress. Other less palatable emotions have caresses as well. Think of the last time you were carried away by a strong emotion. What does the headlong rush of that memory do to your body? When you are aware of how that emotion affects your being, you can discover ways to shift out of the overwhelming emotion before it is firmly embedded into your being. That shifting involves being a witness, an objective observer, of your life.

Choose a strong emotion…anger, despair, fear. How does that emotion feel in your body? Where is that feeling presented? Perhaps this feeling is somewhere in your body or maybe it is located just outside your physical body like a niggling pulse. Notice — what is your gut reaction/response to that emotion? Ask yourself, “How do I want to react to the emotion?” Choose your response and then notice how you feel after your chosen response.

Again, return to the emotion. Where is the emotional feeling lodged in your body? Ask yourself, “How can I remove the energy of that emotion from my person?” Perhaps you will gently pick it off your body as you would fluff from a sweater, maybe you envision a giant lint brush rolling down your body, or perhaps taking a shower or going for a brisk walk will release the energetic pattern of this emotion. Ask how to remove the energy, listen, and then do what you are led to do.

Notice how you feel once you have removed the emotion. Ask to be filled with peace and calm. Allow the peace and calm to wash over your body like a iridescent stream of energy. Be the divine spark to are.

A thin strand of peace weaves throughout our life tapestry. It has an iridescent sheen, but in order to see it, we must be calm and quiet. It is so slender that its  glimmer can easily be missed when we are dancing with chaos. But the strand is there; it dances and shifts throughout our tapestries.
